Chiropractic Care in Dublin 2

At Dublin 2 Chiropractic, we provide individualised chiropractic care from our clinic on Merrion Square, Dublin 2.

Chiropractor David Sweeney graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2010 and is a member of the Chiropractic Association of Ireland. Treatment is based on your symptoms, medical history and examination findings rather than a one-size-fits-all treatment plan.

We commonly assess patients with lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, sciatica and other musculoskeletal problems. Where appropriate, chiropractic care may also be combined with exercise or non-surgical spinal decompression.

What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic care focuses on the assessment and conservative treatment of musculoskeletal problems, particularly those involving the spine, joints and surrounding tissues.

Treatment commonly involves manual techniques, including spinal and joint manipulation or mobilisation. The techniques used depend on the individual patient, their examination findings and the condition being treated.

The aim of treatment is to help reduce pain, improve movement and function, and support a return to normal activity.

Your First Chiropractic Assessment

Your first appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your current symptoms, medical history and any previous injuries or treatment.

This is followed by a physical examination, which may include assessment of spinal and joint movement, orthopaedic and neurological testing, and other tests relevant to your symptoms.

The purpose of the assessment is to identify the likely cause of your problem and determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate. If your examination suggests that further investigation or referral is required, we will discuss this with you before proceeding with treatment.

Where chiropractic care is appropriate, we will explain our findings and recommend a treatment approach based on your individual presentation.

What Does Chiropractic Treatment Involve?

Chiropractic treatment is tailored to the individual and to the findings from your examination.

Treatment commonly includes chiropractic adjustments, where a controlled movement is applied to a joint to help improve movement and function. Depending on your condition, we may also use gentler mobilisation techniques, provide exercise or movement advice, or modify treatment techniques to suit your needs.

Not every patient receives the same treatment. The approach used will depend on factors such as your symptoms, examination findings, age, general health and treatment preferences.

We regularly reassess how you are responding to care and adjust the treatment plan where necessary.

Conditions We Commonly Assess

Patients attend Dublin 2 Chiropractic with a wide range of musculoskeletal problems. Some of the conditions and symptoms we commonly assess include:

The appropriate treatment depends on the underlying problem and your individual examination findings. Chiropractic care may be suitable for some conditions, while others may require a different treatment approach, further investigation or referral.

How Many Chiropractic Visits Will I Need?

The number of visits required varies depending on the problem being treated, how long you have had symptoms, your examination findings and how you respond to care.

Some patients improve relatively quickly, while longer-standing or more complex problems may require a longer course of treatment. Rather than prescribing the same number of visits for everyone, we make recommendations based on your individual presentation.

Your progress is reassessed during care. This allows us to measure your response to treatment and decide whether the treatment plan should be continued, modified or concluded.

Where appropriate, some patients choose to continue with less frequent maintenance care after their initial treatment programme.
